Proposed Development

Development at the site of the permitted, not yet constructed, 110kV substation on the former Mitsui Denman site consisting of modifications to the 110kV substation permitted by Cork County Council under Pl.Reg.No. 16/5606, as extended under Pl.Reg.No. 21/5225. The proposed modifications will consist of: (1) an increase in the floor area of the permitted two-storey Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) 110/20kV substation building (Building A) from c.236.34m2 to c.1,291m2, as well as an increase in height from c.10.4m to c.15m; (b) 1 no. additional single-storey 20 kV switch room and protection building (Building C) (c.151m2); (c) an increase in site area from c.06ha to 0.9249ha: (d) all associated site works including 1 no. additional lighting rod (c.12.5m in height), revisions to 2.4m high palisade security fencing, a new sliding gate, a kiosk on a concrete plinth, and the realignment of the 2 no. 110kV underground cable ducts between the proposed substation and the existing EirGrid 110kV substation to the north.
