Permission... for the construction of a new 110kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) building, located entirely within the footprint of the existing Kilbarry 110 kV Substation, measuring approximately 603.5m2 and 15m in height. The works will include the demolition of the existing disused control building and oil storage facility; the removal of three existing 110kV Overhead Line Towers and construction of four Line Cable Interface Masts (LCIM) with a height of up to 23.75m; connection of existing overhead lines to new LCIMs and 110 kV GIS Substation by means of underground cables and overhead line connections; modification to the existing entrance, the internal access roads, fences and internal access gates; temporary construction facilities, compounds, hardstands; and all associated and ancillary development and site works including provision and/or replacement of electrical structures and equipment, drainage works, laying of new or replacement cables and the diversion of existing cables. A Natura Impact Statement is submitted with this application.
