Permission for upgrade works at the Freemount Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The development will consist of the following: 1) Coagulation, Flocculation and Clarification; upgrade of poly aluminium chloride (PACI) chemical delivery area, with concrete road sloped to a new drainage gully and dedicated spill tank to contain any potential chemical spills during the delivery process. Installation of actuated valves on an existing raw water bypass of the treatment process to automate return of raw water to the river during periods of poor river water quality. 2) Rapid Gravity Filters; Install new run to waste facility post backwash sequence. 3) Disinfection; Install a single outdoor bunded chlorine bulk storage tank with a capacity of 2000L equipped with chemical dosing cabinet. New emergency shower and chemical delivery area for spill containment, new drainage gully connected to dedicated underground spill tank. 4) WTP Residuals; Refurbishment of the existing equalisation tank, including installation of 1 no. mixer and pump replacement. New backwash pump kiosk housing the new backwash pumps and upgraded residuals treatment MCC panel. Installation of 1 no. new 16m3 sludge balance tank. Installation of 1 no. new 3.15m diameter picket fence thickener. Installation of 1 no. new 80m3 sludge holding tank with facility for off-site tinkering connection. 5) Ancillary works; Installation of additional instrumentation, monitoring equipment and controls in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s technical standards. General groundworks, fencing, surfacing, landscaping, kerbing, ducting, drainage and pipework associated with the proposed works described above. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the planning authority with the application.
