The proposed sand and gravel pit development will comprise: i) Phased sand and gravel extraction, soil storage; and restoration over six phases within an extraction area of 25.9 hectares: ii) Extraction by dry working (to c. 1 metre above water table) and wet working (to c. 8 metres below water table); iii) Operational landscaping with provision of perimeter screening berms and planting to be carried out during the Phase 1 works; iv) Construction of a new access onto the R586 regional road and internal road; v) Installation of a fixed processing plant with closed water management system (including water management lagoons) and water supply borehole in the Phase 1 area; vi) Processing of extracted sand and gravel including washing and screening with crushing of oversize materials; vii) Office / canteen with toilet facilities (75 sq. metres) and proprietary waste water treatment system with infiltration area; viii) Garage (294 sq. metres); ix) ESB substation (22 sq. metres) and generator; x) Wheelwash; xi)Weighbridge;, xii) Bunded fuel storage and refuelling area with hydrocarbon interceptor; xiii) Final restoration of the overall site; and all ancillary site works within a planning application area of c. 32.0 hectares. Permission is sought for 25 years plus 2 years to complete final restoration (total duration sought 27 years)
