The development will consist of a new two storey extension with rooftop plantroom to the existing courtyard forming the expansion of the Emergency Department at Ground Floor and a new Acute Medical Admissions Unit at First Floor. At ground floor level the existing Emergency Department will be refurbished as part of the works this will include a new dedicated Paediatric area, refurbished resuscitation facilities and minor injuries facilities. The extension will provide additional patient cubicles, patient isolation facility, Gynaecology treatment suite and associated staff and clinical support facilities. A single storey extension will also be formed in the courtyard providing support accommodation for the emergency department. At first floor level in the Acute Medical Admissions Unit, new patient cubicles will be provided with patient sit-down treatment area, triage and consultation rooms and staff support facilities. Accessible ensuite patient rooms will also be provided at this level. Upgrades to existing roof areas will be carried out to allow for the installation of new Solar PV arrays. In addition, window replacement and architectural cladding will provide enhanced thermal fabric performance. The project will be undertaken in a multiphase approach and the provision of temporary and relocation of temporary prefabricated accommodation will be required to facilitate same. A single storey extension will be formed to provide a new Ambulance Entrance, with works carried out to the existing Ambulance Drop-Off / Set-Down area providing increased Emergency Vehicle capacity. Expansion of the existing car park will be undertaken with installation of helipad safety barriers, EV charging points and bicycle parking. Site-wide signage will be erected to provide clear wayfinding and health and safety information for the campus and all other necessary ancillary site works.
