Minor alterations to the main entrance and atrium area of the hospital comprising a one bay 38m2 draught lobby extension enclosing part of the existing entrance canopy, associated hard landscaping and minor alterations to an adjacent section of the existing elevation.

The construction of a new entrance lobby and concourse of total 250sq.m. additional floor area and 6m in height, including new information desk, informal seating area and display facilities. The proposal includes: (a) modifications to existing main entrance external wall and roof to create continuous 6m high new concourse extending from new entrance doors into the existing 4-storey high Atrium; (b) demolitions including removal of existing entrance canopy (20x7m) and removal of entire existing linear canopy (c.220m length) over the pedestrian walk way at road frontage; (c) associated external works including landscaping works, drainage and new paving; (d) new sign fixed above new entrance lobby doors.

The proposed will be located on the roof of the existing ground floor outpatients department (existing roof finishes to be removed), connecting to the existing ICU at two locations, to an existing circulation route in one location and to the existing hospital street at one location. There will be no second floor accommodation with the exception of open air plant, screened plant and associated services with access for maintenance staff.

Alterations and extensions to the Radiology Department in an internal courtyard at the north west of the hospital comprising a single storey extension to accommodate a second magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner; an extended control room and associated technical equipment room total floor area of proposed extension approx. 61sq.m.; a screened area on the roof of the technical equipment room extending onto part of the MRI room to accommodate mechanical ventilation equipment; a 4.5m high quench pipe; the relocation of the door from a sub-waiting area to the courtyard; construction of a door to the corridor at first floor level to provide access to the roof of the extension and the mechanical plant; provision of an air-conditioning condenser in the courtyard; reconfiguration of the hard and soft landscaping in the remainder of the courtyard.
