The Green Route Quality Bus Corridor – Old Bawn Road Section from Firhouse Road junction to the Tallaght Bypass (The N81). The Old Bawn Road QBC forms part of the QBC Network that will link to The Firhouse/Ballycullen QBC. The scheme consists of 605m of QBC in the southbound direction and 315m in the northbound direction. The sections of bus lanes proposed are as follows: Southbound (605m of bus lane) 235m of bus lane from a point 120m south of Mountain Park to Seskin View Road. 370m of bus lane from Parkwood Park to Firhouse Road. Northbound (315m of bus lane) 85m of bus lane from Parkwood Park to Seskin View Road. 230m of bus lane from a point 80m south of Mountain Park to the N81. The Scheme has the potential to provide considerable benefits for public transport users on the route as follows: There are significant time savings for a large number of bus passengers. As the number of general traffic lanes remains unchanged, there is no significant impact on journey times for general traffic. Improved cycle and pedestrian facilities, including on-road cycle tracks or combined bus and cycle lanes the full length of the scheme. It will link to the proposed Firhouse/Ballycullen QBC of which Phase I (between Old Bawn Rd and Ballycullen Road) has been constructed while Phase II (From Woodstown to N81) is under construction.
