The development arises in the context of an application for Certificate of Registration to the Enviroment Department, South Dublin County Council for the remediation of an area of .9ha for the purposes of agricultural benefit and increased farming profitability within the livestock (sheep and cattle) farming enterprise of Mr. Joseph McGrath Senior. The project will involve the importation of between 10,000 and 15,000 tonnes of subsoil and topsoil. It is expected that the clean fill material will be sourced in construction sites in the greater Dublin area. A single licenced haulage contractor will be assigned to the project. Soil in the soured sites will be prior tested and validated before transporation. It is anticipate that because the economic down-turn in the construction sector the opportunities for the sourcing of appropriate fill material will be limited. The project will therefore operate over a lapsed period of six months. The material will be transported on 20 tonne trucks. This will involve between 500 and 750 truck movements or an average of between 87 and 125 per month of operation, 21 to 31 per week. Access to the site will be via the farm entrance on the Killakee Road. Access will be left turn in and left turn out of the entrance. Access within the farm is via an existing service haul road within the farm. In the event of dust arising within the farm a sprinkling system will be on standby. A road sweeper will be contracted on call in case of soil/mud arising on the Killakee Road.
