planning permission (a 10 year permission) for the proposed development of a Gaelic athletic association training and player development centre at, a site of circa. 18.9 hectares. The development comprises the layout and provision of 6 no. full sized Gaelic sport playing pitches (5 no. grass and 1 no. all-weather), associated perimeter floodlighting and ball nets, 1 no. all-weather hurling and ball wall, for training purposes, supporting outdoor maintenance building of 271 sqm. The proposed development comprises a comprehensive landscape proposal as provides for woodland retention, ecological buffers, new areas of native species planting and biodiversity net gain and a linear walking loop. Presented within the landscape setting is the proposed construction of a supporting facilities building totalling 9,695 sqm (ground floor 6,478 sqm and first floor 3,217 sqm) of which; 5,310 sqm is dedicated to the necessary changing and player support facilities, 1,414 sqm for community gymnasium, physiotherapy and sports health suites, 1,942 sqm for community conference, dining and hospitality space and 1,029 sqm of community & civic assembly space and internal circulation needs. A 210 seated spectator area is integrated into the facilities building design as addresses the main premier pitch. The pitch facilities and supporting building are accessed via a proposed new access road and junction off the Robinstown Link Road, and presented with parking for 335 no. cars, 10 no. coaches and 80 no. secure, covered cycle stands associated supporting lighting, and all above and below ground associated works. The proposal also benefits from a proposed active travel (pedestrian/cycle) link from the Delvin Road adjacent St. Loman’s GAA grounds. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) has been prepared and accompanies this application.
