Trigon Hotels Ltd, intend to apply for a 10-year permission for full planning permission for the redevelopment and refurbishment of the Metropole Hotel and former P.J. O' Hea site at a site bounded by MacCurtain Street to the north, St. Patrick's Quay to the south and existing buildings to the east and west; Harley's Street traverses the centre of the site. The refurbishment and renovation of the existing hotel building includes 43 bedroom suites and meeting rooms, the rein-statement of original ground floor frontage and the historic entrance on MacCurtain Street. The proposed development also allows for the construction of a new 228 bedroom hotel at the former P.J. O' Hea site consisting of 6 floors of bedroom accommodation over upper and lower ground floor lobby and including hotel bar with one retail unit, roof terrace and two no. link bridges to the Metropole Hotel over Harley's Street. The proposed overall development will allow for a total of 411 no. bedrooms. Access to the car park is via St. Patrick's Quay. The proposed development includes signage and all associated site development works. This application is accompanied by a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) / Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) The Metropole Hotel is a protected structure (Cork City Council Record of Protected Structures listing PS 185)
