Permission to vary a previous approval (Reg. Ref. SD04A/0077 granted on 22nd July 2004) for the development of additional gross retail floor area, ancillary circulation areas and facilities and office area totalling 5194.6sq.m. to rear of central atrium at first floor level in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, Fonthill Road Clondalkin, Dublin 22. The variations involve: (1) amalgamating approved unit 102 at first and second floor level with existing units 61/62 at ground floor level to form a single retail unit, (of 2687sq.m.) (2) amend (a) the rear wall of units 101 & 102 at first and second floor level by reducing their projection by 1 metre in depth, (b) omit part of rear parapet wall and rear roof light and (c) amend location of fire escape doors at ground floor level in rear elevation.

Access to the new retail floors will be from a new escalator in the Central Atrium together with additional staircases, fire escapes and from the existing Food Court. New elevations which match the existing are proposed to the rear of the Centre.

SD05A/0966) located to the rear of shopping centre and to provide a central seating area of 48sq.m to serve the cafe users site within the circulation area, The proposal would have consequent minor elevational changes to the rear of the centre.

'Events Area' to host a series of consecutive temporary uses such as an ice rink, santa's grotto, funfairs, craft and antique fairs, exhibitions, community events, sporting activities etc; in an open area of 2359sq.m. located to the rear of the centre between service yards 2 & 3. This area would be accessed by pedestrians via the central atrium in the centre. This use was granted previously in this location (Reg. Ref. SD05A/0966) for a period of three years. Permission is now sought for a further three years.
