Revision, alteration and retention to approved office/club house, hangar and car park layout - Planning References S01A/0822 and PL.06S.131149. Office / club house / control tower. To give full view of runway and taxi ways, the retention consists of relocated Control Tower from its centre position on the roof of office / club house to front elevation with greatly reduced size of the display and visual part of the control tower (improving elevational aspect) and slight increase in height by 0.775m and the consequential relocation and the retention of navigational aid equipment from Control Tower to 2 number storage areas internally under the Control Tower achieved by lowering the ceiling height of the first floor by 1.945m. Also the consequential relocation and retention of lift shaft internally, thereby avoiding direct entry to Control Tower. The height of the lift shaft is increased by 1.5m. The retention also incorporates necessary security arrangements by changing the use of the ground floor by the provision of office accommodation and reception at ground floor and slight increase in bar area and reduction in office space at first floor. The application also includes the proposed use of the unrooofed areas behind the perimeter parapet walling for air handling units and ventilation equipment. Hanger: The retention of folding doors at rear of hanger.

According to Weston Airport Aerodrome they propose using some of the existing hangers for the purpose of servicing and operating SAR (Search and rescure) Helicopters from 1st of July 2025 This raises a number of questions: A. There is already a Planning Permission granted by SDCC Reference SD23A/0324 in relation to the provision of this service from a different location within the Aerodrome. B. As you should be aware this decision was appealed by myself and others to An Bord Pleanala and a decision is still awaited on this appeal C. Do the plans to operate a similar service from 1st July 2025 from the exiting hangers not require planning permission? D. Operating a SAR facility means there will be night flying. I am not aware of any decision to permit such flights at this location E. Surely there must be conditions attached to this type of operation -flight paths etc. The Airport is in close proximity to three major towns; Celbridge, Leixlip and Lucan. And Maynooth is no far away either. F. It interesting to note the intention of using the existing facilities to fun the SAR operations from the existing buildings when one of the main arguments put forward in their planning application (SD23A/0324) was that it was not possible to do that.
